Personal reflection
Creating this multi-genre project was a new and interesting experience for me. At first, I wasn't sure I was crazy about the idea, but as I thought about it I began to become very excited about the possibilities of creating something fun and engaging for my students. After completing the project, I even included it in my field folio for teacher assisting. I am very happy with how it turned out and I do plan to use it in my classroom in the future. I have created something that will be fun and useful for students in my classroom and that is something I am very proud of. Some of the artifacts were more challenging to find than others, but overall I think it is a great reflection for multiple domains of learning. I think I had a good "hook" to really get the students interested in the project which was the fact that obesity is something that is a serious problem in our country and if we don't do something about it their generation may be the first ever generation to not outlive their parents. I believe that students will see this and the attached article and have a vested interest in their learning. Teaching PE and Health isn't always easy because many students aren't motivated to learn in these classes, but using this as a hook should get every student interested and help them to be involved and create a really great research paper. I look forward to using this is future classes and am excited to see how it turns out.
