Research Paper: Description of research paper assignment
Magazine Articles: These are several articles that are meant to inform the students about the components of physical fitness, explain why they are important, as well as give them ways they can work on each component. The student can read through the information in the articles to help them gain knowledge and information for their research paper.
Posters: These are visual representations of the 5 components of physical fitness and will help students who are more visual learners to better understand the information. This gives students a picture of what these components are and some of the ways we work on improving each component.
Concept Map: This concept map allows students to see the connections between various health choices and concepts and the impact these could have on their life. Again, this is a good example for visual learners and it also helps students who may have a hard time making the connections between these things to better understand what we are talking about.
Timelines: There are two timelines for students to look at and make connections between. The first timeline shows the obesity rates in the United States since 1985. The second timeline shows activity rates in the United States since 1975. Students will look at these and be able to draw the conclusion that as activity rates fall obesity rates rise.
Bulletin Boards: These bulletin boards are great visual representations of the components of physical fitness. Instead of using a lot of words, these boards have the main ideas to help students organize their thoughts. Bulletin boards are great ways to send a message in the classroom and are good for helping students remember the key concepts.
Poem: This poem allows students to connect to the information in another way that may help students who learn more creatively than others. It also helps deliver the information in a catchy way that may appeal to some students. Much like using a song about a topic, poetry is a great way to make the content appeal to students.
YouTube Videos: These videos allow students to see the information through a visual aid while it is explained to them. Students now a days use the internet and YouTube to learn about many things, so using these videos will help draw them in and motivate them to learn the material more than simply reading about it would.
